Productivity has risen to the point that the world has too many people to meaningfully employ them all. If history is a guide, the correction to this situation will be ugly.

Mass global depopulation is coming. Several generations already failed to have enough children, and it's just a matter of time until we start to see the effects of a vastly diminished world population. Productivity will need to increase to account for this, as lots of jobs will become vacant.
